Generational change at TROX:
New EK2-EU smoke control damper sets highest technical standards.

High fire resistance, rapid installation even in lightweight partition walls, higher energy efficiency

New materials, improved technical properties and even more applications – these are the benefits of new EK2-EU smoke control damper from TROX.The “new one” therefore seamlessly continues the success story of the CE-compliant EK-EU smoke control damper that began back in 2015.Worthy of special mention: easier installation, lower energy consumption and a fire resistance rating of up to EI180S.

“The previous model set the bar for the new smoke control damper very high,” says Reinhard Brenner, Business Development Manager at TROX Austria. “We are proud that we have succeeded in optimising it further and that we are able to offer our customers an even better product.”

The new EK2-EU comes with a whole range of modernisations: the maximum fire resistance rating of EI120S was achievable for all previous applications, but ratings even up to EI180S are possible in solid walls. The EK2-EU can also be installed without mortar by using fire protection acrylic for filling the annular gap tested for CE-compliance. Also new is the possibility to install the EK2-EU in lightweight partition walls.The innovative annular gap filling offers even more flexibility for companies carrying out the installation to achieve small clearances as well.The optimised motor encapsulation simplifies the wiring of the damper. This is now even possible on both sides.

Further advantages of the new EK2-EU:

  • Lower pressure losses and therefore higher energy efficiency
    • Reduced clearances and casing to casing arrangement possible
    • Dimensions: from 200 x 200 to 1,500 x 800 in steps of 5 mm
    • Complies with highest pressure level 3 (operating pressure 1,500 to 500 Pa)
    • Licensed for manual and automatic actuation as well as HOT400/30
    • Cmod suitable for smoke extraction and ventilation and for the damper blade in intermediate positions
    • The EK2-EU is suitable for smoke extraction ducts from wall thicknesses of 35 millimetres
    • Casing leakage flows pursuant to EN 1751, Class C and Class 3
